At Locayte we recognize that your privacy is important. This Policy applies to Locayte services (which includes the service and the necessary products and software used thereof for providing Locayte services) and the website offered by Etyacol Technologies Pvt Ltd or its affiliated companies (collectively, "Locayte Services"). In addition, where more detailed information is needed to explain our privacy practices, we shall post separate privacy notices to describe how particular services process shall personal information.

Information we collect

We offer a number of services that requires you to register for an account or provide any personal information to us. In order to provide our full range of services, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Information you provide - When you sign up for a Locayte Account or when you register for Locayte services, we may ask you for personal information such as first name, last name, time zone, zip/postal code, country, state, city, email, birth date, and gender etc. Once you register with Locayte and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us. You will provide us with an email address and password that you will use to login to the Locayte services. If you choose to keep your group public your group name will be visible to the public.
  • Also during registration, you will be requested to register your mobile phone, pager, or other device to receive text messages, notifications, and other services to your wireless device. If you select to register a wireless phone, pager, or other device you must provide your mobile network operator and your mobile phone number. If required you must also provide the validation code that Locayte sends to your mobile phone, pager, or other device to ensure that the device you are registering does belong to you.
  • Some of the information from registration such as country, state, and city of residence, gender, age, and name may be automatically placed in your Profile. You can select to hide this information from other members of Locayte by editing your profile. In addition, you can choose to tell other members of Locayte more about your hobbies, interests, hometown, high school, college, and much more. You can fill out as much or as little as you like. The more you fill out the more likely that you'll be able to meet other members based on the things that you have in common. You can not hide your group name. If your group is public, your group name is visible to everyone and if it is private, your group name will be visible only to your group members.
  • We may send you communications containing information about our products or services which we feel may be of interest to you but only if you have consented to us contacting you in this way (for example, Email, SMS etc.). If you wish to amend the way in which we contact you or opt out of any marketing updates, please contact us by emailing at privacy@locayte.com.
  • Locayte may also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, Locayte cookie information and the page you requested.
  • Your mobile phone number may be used to associate, identify and track content you upload as belonging to you. Locayte may use the information to manage or improve the website, track usage and to protect the rights or property of our users and of others.
  • Locayte cookies - When you visit Locayte, we might send one or more cookies - a small file containing a string of characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends, such as how people search. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some Locayte features and services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.
  • Log information - When you use Locayte services, our servers automatically record information that your browser/mobile phone sends whenever you visit our website or access the Locayte mobile applications. These server logs may include information such as your web request, mobile phone number, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser/phone.
  • User communications - When you send email or other communication to Locayte or Locayte's Affliate Services, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
  • Affiliated sites - We offer some of our services in connection with other web sites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to us in order to deliver the service. We process such information in accordance with this Policy. The affiliated sites may have different privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
  • Links - Locayte may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our service, customized content and advertising.
  • Other sites - This Privacy Policy applies to web sites and services that are owned and operated by Locayte. We do not exercise control over the sites displayed as search results or links from within our various services. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you.

How we use your information

Locayte only processes personal information for the purposes described in the applicable Privacy Policy and/or privacy notice for specific services. In addition to the above, such purposes include,

  • Providing our products and services to users, including the display of customized content and advertising
  • Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services
  • Ensuring the technical functioning of our network
  • Developing new services.

Information sharing

Locayte only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Locayte in the following limited circumstances,

  • We have your consent. We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive personal information.
  • We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

  • We have to process a financial transaction to enable your access to our paid services that require payment of fees. For example, if you choose to pay us using credit cards, we need to share some information (such as your name and credit card number) with banks and other entities in the financial system that process credit card transactions. In such cases, we will notify you of that sharing before you complete the transaction.

If Locayte becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Information security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.We restrict access to personal information to Locayte employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Accessing and Updating personal information

When you use Locayte services, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. Change of Control

In the event that ownership or control of Locayte and/or the Website was to change, your personal information may be transferred. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This privacy policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Further, it is irrevocably and unconditionally agreed that the courts at Bangalore, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction to entertain any proceedings in relation to any disputes arising out of this privacy policy.

We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent, and we expect most such changes will be minor in accoradance with changes to legislation, best practices or enhancements to Locayte Services.
